Sam Kolias was born and raised in Calgary. At 21, graduated University of Calgary with a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering. In 1984 Sam and brother Van started and founded Boardwalk Properties Co. Ltd. An owner of multi family rental housing units, Boardwalk went public with Boardwalk Equities Inc. in 1994. Boardwalk Equities Inc. converted into a Real Estate Investment Trust in 2004 and is currently Canada’s largest publicly listed multi-family owner in Canada with over 35,000 rental units representing over 29 million net rentable square feet, with a total enterprise value of over $4.5 billion.
