Managing Director, RBC Capital Markets and Victoria Hand, BA/PHE'73

"Queen's has proudly been a part of my life for over 50 years," says Paul Hand, Managing Director of RBC Capital Markets, and member of the Queen's School of Business Advisory Board . Paul and Victoria recently demonstrated their commitment by generously donating one million dollars towards the School of Business Building Fund in support of Goodes Hall.

"Fundraising is critical to Queen's continued success, and alumni play a vital role as primary supporters," he says. Paul and Victoria's gift to the Building Fund has brought the Commerce and MBA graduate programs together under one roof, creating synergy between the faculties and helping students get to know others from different programs. The Graduate Studies Complex has been named in honour of Paul's father, Richard Hand, former Vice Principal, and Dean of the School of Business from 1966 to 1977.

Since he completed his MBA in 1973, Paul has spent more than 25 years in the investment business with numerous roles in the Private Client, Equity Capital Markets, and Institutional Equity areas. Prior to assuming the role of Managing Director, he was Senior Equity Trader at Wood Gundy from 1986 to 1990. In 1998, he was appointed to the Board of Governors of the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Since 2001, Paul has been a senior member of the firm's Equity Capital Markets group, where he advises corporate clients on a wide range of financing, merger and acquisition transactions.

Paul believes the many successes he has had during his career reflect the quality of education he received. He also believes the benefits of an education go far beyond the classroom: "The reputation of Queen's School of Business and the network of Alumni have been invaluable."

Paul and Victoria 's donation to the School of Business will help further Queen's goal of becoming one of the world's most innovative and influential business schools. Most importantly, it will help give our students the strong foundation they require to launch themselves into the business world.

Thank you, Paul and Victoria.
