GPA and Academic Standing

For students who completed their studies at Queen's at the end of the Winter term 2011,
no change to grading or evaluation occurred. Continuing students received percentage grades
in Winter term 2011.

All academic standings for the 2010/11 academic year were based on numeric grades and percentage averages.

Dean’s Honour List

Achieving the following GPA on all courses taken during an academic year and maintaining an 80% course load (from September to April) will place a student on the Dean’s Honour List.

Requirements to Graduate

To graduate, students must have a minimum GPA on all courses taken at Queen’s (cumulative GPA), as follows:

Cumulative GPA Degree Eligibility
1.7 4-year Bachelor of Commerce
2.0 4-year Bachelor of Commerce (Honours)

Graduation with First Class Honours

A student who graduates from the Bachelor of Commerce Program with a cumulative GPA 3.5 or higher and who has taken at least 90.0 units equivalents of the required 123.0 units from Queen's University shall have the designation `First Class Honours' placed on his or her transcript and such honour will be noted in the official Convocation program. For the purposes of calculating the student's cumulative average, all courses taken at Queen's and registered as part of the Bachelor of Commerce degree will be included.

As of the Summer 2011 Academic Session, academic decisions in the School of Business, Commerce Program are based primarily on a student’s grade point average (GPA).

Academic Progression

Students are expected to maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above to remain in good academic standing.
