Back to the daily grind of university

With the later than usual start date for classes this year, it feels like I’ve had an extended summer vacation.  I spent the month of May working in Kingston in sports marketing, and the rest of the summer in real estate law.  I’m now settled in to my new house off campus, and it feels like I’ve been in Kingston forever!

With frosh week activities wrapped up on Saturday, the campus is eerily quiet today as students spend their last day of freedom relaxing (or rather, recovering) from all of the craziness.  Even after picking up my textbooks from the campus bookstore yesterday afternoon, it’s still hard to believe that classes start tomorrow.  Luckily for me, I have Fridays off this term so it’ll be a long weekend every weekend this semester!

I attended the ComSoc Kickoff for co-chairs today, temporarily taking the place of another Queen’s Entrepreneurs’ Competition co-chair who couldn’t attend the event.  I’ve learned a lot from the speakers today, and it was interesting to learn exactly what the internal and external committees within Commerce were all about.  If you’re a prospective student looking to apply to Queen’s, or if you’re a frosh looking to get involved, I highly recommend you visit http://comsoc.queensu.ca and get a taste of the (overwhelming) student initiative that exists in this program.

First classes start tomorrow, and I can already feel myself wishing for Friday to come.  Some things never change…
