Hi, everyone! I'm a third year commie at Queen's School of Business. I was born in China, raised in Japan, and schooled in Ottawa. I am a graduate of Colonel By Secondary School's International Baccalaureate programme.
Apart from Queen's Commerce's reputation, extracurricular activities, networking opportunities, approachable faculty, extensive exchange program, small class sizes, and the rest of the deal, there was really one factor that brought me here: the people. One thing that I have found to be invaluable at Queen's Commerce is that the small class sizes allow everyone to become acquainted with one another. The cohesive niche of commerce students who are motivated and driven creates a unique, rewarding environment. University is not just about what you learn in class, but the lessons you take from the people you meet. The latter aspect is greatly facilitated at Queen's Commerce, where you get to know not only everyone in your year, but also those in other years just as well.
This year, I'm the Commerce Society Business Manager and on the executive for the Queen's Consulting Association. I'm also VERY excited to go on exchange to Hong Kong! In the past, I've served as an auditor for the Commerce Society and a visiting board member for the Canadian Cancer Society. During my time here, I've built an affinity to case competitions have had the privilege to represent Queen's in New Zealand, as well as our own ICBC competition. I've also done a lot of other case competitions where I've learned lots and meet tons of interesting people.
I hope that my thoughts on this blog will facilitate for whoever is reading not only the process of deciding which offer to accept, but also where to apply in the first place.
