Janet Longmore – Founder & CEO, Digital Opportunity Trust
Janet Longmore is the founder and CEO of Digital Opportunity Trust. An honours graduate of Queen's University School of Business (1979), she has dedicated her career, and applied her business skills, to the creation of innovative approaches to help people in marginalized communities acquire the skills necessary to enter the modern workforce and become self-reliant.
Under her leadership, DOT has developed an innovative and cost effective youth-led, peer-to-peer model that transforms young women and men as they use technology to become leaders of change in their communities. DOT's network of thousands of local young leaders has reached over a million people in the Middle East, Africa and the Americas.
A passionate believer in the power and potential of youth and technology, Janet works tirelessly to promote respect for youth as an untapped source of creativity, energies and talent. An accomplished social entrepreneur and mentor, she is a role model for the many women leaders in the DOT network.
In guiding DOT's steady growth, Janet has forged long term partnerships with local organizations and multinationals, including Cisco Systems, IBM, The MasterCard Foundation, BlackBerry and agencies such as CIDA and USAID.
Janet is a frequent speaker at international conferences where she encourages new thinking about the enabling power of technology to transform people's lives. She has been recognized as one of Canada's Top 100 Women of Influence by the Women's Executive Network, the CATA CanWIT Women in Technology Entrepreneur of the Year for 2011 and a TIAW World of Difference 100 Award winner in 2011. This year she was named by the World Economic Forum as a Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2013, only the second Canadian to receive the honour.
Andreas Souvaliotis – Founder, AIR MILES for Social Change
Known as one of Canada's leading serial social entrepreneurs, Andreas was once the CEO of a prominent retail agency - - but then he decided to harness the immense power and reach of the marketing industry and put it to work for the good of society and the planet: He founded Green Rewards, the world's first eco-points program, fused it with the very popular AIR MILES program and ended up rewarding millions of citizens with their favourite loyalty points each time they made healthier or greener shopping choices. He has since co-founded and is now leading Social Change Rewards, a similar social venture with a global focus.
His achievements in influencing and rewarding behaviour change on a mass scale have been recognized by social responsibility leaders from around the world, including The Prince of Wales. He is a prolific writer and speaker, he chairs the advisory board of the Centre for Responsible Leadership at the Queen's School of Business, he also chairs the national committee on climate change for WWF Canada and he serves on several other academic and non-profit boards.
