Einar Westerlund


Einar Westerlund Einar Westerlund is Director, Project Development at Queen's Centre for Business Venturing at Queen's School of Business. He is formally principal of Toronto-based Westerlund & Associates and a senior partner with Silicon-Valley-based Strayer Consulting Group. Both of these professional practices aim at providing leading edge organizational development support to enterprises facing rapid change and growth. Support services include organizational and management assessment; management team development; assisting the transitioning of key players in and out; venture capital coaching; support on Board relationships; planning for organizational growth and change; and trouble-shooting organizational "hot-spots."

Einar graduated from Phillips Academy (Andover) and later Yale University following studies in English and Psychology. He began his career in marketing with the General Electric Company, moving on to become a client service executive with A.C. Nielsen marketing research. Following this he found his own professional training and organizational development practice. He is twice the past President of the largest association of Canadian professionals in his field. He continues to be active in professional practice across Canada today, advising, supporting, and consulting with small and medium sized enterprises on behalf of the Centre for Business Venturing at Queen's School of Business.

Sheila Norris


Sheila brings the experiences of a diverse career in the private and public sectors to her consulting and coaching work. After almost a decade of work as a chemical engineer in the areas of design, research and public relations at a multinational corporation, Sheila moved to a consulting role. As a consultant, she enjoys helping individuals and organizations improve what they do by helping them focus on how they do it. For the past 20 years Sheila has consulted with and coached leaders to enhance organizational capacity and effectiveness by helping them to leverage their strengths and the strengths of their organizations to increase their performance and their enjoyment of their work.

Sheila has worked with multinational corporations, small businesses and startups, all levels of government, institutions of higher learning, healthcare organizations and not-for-profits. Over the course of her career, Sheila has designed and implemented management, human resource and organizational development processes; designed and delivered post-secondary courses, and workplace training; facilitated significant change management initiatives and strategic planning initiatives; conducted scientific research and managed technical projects.

Sheila's particular areas of interest and focus include:

  • Helping organizations ensure that the fundamentals are in place and clear to all
  • Assessing and helping to set up effective teams
  • Helping leaders and managers hone their professional skills, including planning, performance management, developing others/career planning, influence
  • Helping individuals transition from one role to another (such as peer to manager, manager to leader)
  • Designing and implementing training programs
  • Improving intra-organizational understanding

Sheila is a Professional Engineer, with a B.Sc. (Eng.) and an M.Ed., both from Queen's University. She is also a Certified Executive Coach (Royal Roads University), and is also certified in the Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument, a tool designed to help individuals and teams better understand their thinking preferences and thereby their communication styles, decision-making and problem-solving approaches.

When not engaged in the work of her business, Intersections Coaching and Consulting, Sheila is usually outdoors. She loves to ski (downhill and cross-country), cycle – mostly on-road, wilderness canoe and hike.
