Information for Students
The Centre for Business Venturing will play a critical role in keeping Queen’s School of Business at the forefront of teaching entrepreneurial and business venturing skills. Perhaps more importantly, it will afford our students the opportunity to gain invaluable business venturing experience. In the end, we’re not just teaching people to be entrepreneurs – we’re teaching them how to understand and work with entrepreneurs, and how to encourage entrepreneurial thinking in a corporate environment.
We believe that no one should graduate from Queen's School of Business without having been exposed to leading edge thinking and practice in the entrepreneurial context.
Business venturing is now part of the core curriculum in all of our MBA programs. We have also established elective courses for students wishing to delve deeper into this exciting area. The Centre for Business Venturing offers the following programs to enhance the learning experience:
-
TriColour Venture Fund
The TriColour Venture Fund Program is an MBA-level course designed to teach our students how to evaluate a new venture with the perspective of an investor. Students evaluate real start-up companies for real investments of up to $150,000.

These internships are specifically focused on providing critical resources to help School of Business graduates turn their new venture business plans into reality. Each internship provides funding for three months, up to a total of $15,000. Students who are about to graduate apply for the internships and are selected into the program based a series of criteria including the strength of their business opportunity, their plan of action, and their passion for the venture.

Business Plan Competitions
Entrepreneurial students are encouraged to participate in Business Plan Competitions to promote their business ideas. Along with exposure to venture capital investors, monetary prizes for winning teams can help provide initial funding for launching new businesses.
