Offered in partnership with Performance Coaching Inc, this fast-paced 1.5-day seminar focuses on mental fitness skills for performance under pressure. This content, which applies the skills from a variety of sources including sport psychology, medical research and eastern practices, is the missing "survival guide" for today’s high performance work environments.

In this Program you will learn:

  • The source and degree of impact from pressures in your life, both professionally and personally, and your strengths and weaknesses in handling that pressure (using StressMap, a comprehensive personal assessment)
  • Skills for accessing all of your capabilities under pressure
  • Skills for managing reactivity and distress
  • Skills for maintaining a useful perspective through difficult situations
  • How to maintain focus on a clear and compelling personal vision that has meaning
  • How to develop personal action plans for performing your best

Who should attend

This Program is suited for anyone working in a situation where pressure and the need for excellence are equally present. Pressure can come from many sources, including:

  • working within an environment of constant change
  • balancing work/life pressures
  • heavy workload or pressing deadlines
  • interacting with difficult people
  • upcoming challenging events or times
  • current challenges that are distressing

The Program is divided into two themed days:

  • Day 1:Comprehensive model outlining the skills

    • Self-assessment looking at sources and level of pressure in your world
    • In-depth teaching on the implications of the self assessment
    • Time to debrief and reflect on next steps
    • Skills for self management and growth in:
      • - Making choices. Active awareness
      • - Maintaining perspective – why and how?
      • - Energy management - ensuring optimal performance
      • - Imagery – the language of performance
      • - Deep relaxation – taking care of self, taking care of business
  • Day 2: Role of the self.  Directing my own development

    • Developing a personal vision, focus and goals
    • Personal plan. Peer coaching

     Jacques Charuest, Performance Coaching Inc.

    Jacques Charuest has over thirty years of Human Resources experience. He has worked with, and for, organizations of all shapes and sizes and has approached Human Resource Management issues from both the inside and as an outside consultant. Jacques holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Psychology. He has taught graduate level courses at Université de Sherbrooke, and since 1994 has been responsible for the “Change Management” course in its Executive MBA program. Additionally, he has been a guest speaker at numerous associations and has had several appearances on radio and television.

     Karyn Garossino - Consultant, Performance Coaching Inc.

    An exceptional workshop facilitator and trainer, Karyn Garossino has considerable experience in coaching for challenging situations. Her resilience, poise and skill under pressure were built from the ground up. Karyn first learned these skills as an athlete, then deepened her theoretical understanding of them through academic study in Psychology and Education. Karyn excelled in the intense world of high performance sport as a competitive figure skater. Her career spanned ten years of international competition, including five world championships and culminated as a 1988 Olympian and Canadian champion in 1989. Her experience as a national level coach, executive coach and now trainer, focuses on application – helping others deal with challenges that require skill and poise under pressure while still getting results.

    Mr. Garry Watanabe - Consultant, Performance Coaching Inc.

    Garry Watanabe started out his career as a lawyer and spent five years developing his corporate experience in the competitive world of law. During this time, Garry came to realize that his passion for coaching and developing others was overtaking his desire to be a lawyer. This passion drove Garry to obtain his Master’s Degree in Sport Psychology and seek out coaching opportunities. Garry spent the next ten years as a national level coach, first directing programs at Carleton University, and then heading to Southern California to coach in the most competitive swimming environment in North America. He now focuses on applying the principles of coaching, mental fitness, and challenging conversations to a wider range of performers in his work with Performance Coaching.
