How the Program Works
Queen's Executive MBA is offered anywhere in Canada, creating a unique national perspective that is not available in other executive MBA programs.
Team-Based Learning
Queen's uses a team-based learning approach to create a highly supportive and collaborative learning experience - both inside and outside the classroom. Learning Teams are formed at the beginning of the program and remain together for the duration. Each team is comprised of 6 to 8 members, with an emphasis on diversity of background.

On-Campus Sessions
There are three on-campus sessions during the program:
- Opening Session at the beginning of the program
- Creativity & Innovation Session in January
- Strategic Electives Session in July
These sessions are held at the Donald Gordon Conference Centre, near the Queen's campus. Comfortable, private guest rooms, outstanding food, exceptional customer service, and a breadth of amenities are the hallmarks of the Centre. Watch a video about the on-campus experience

"Living in Peterborough, Ontario, it never occurred to me that I would have the opportunity to enroll in the Queen’s Executive MBA program. I have found the technology to be seamless and highly interactive. I feel truly connected to my teammates and the rest of the class across Canada."

Boardroom Learning Team Sessions in Your Home City

Option Two
In all Other Locations
If you live outside of the nine cities listed under Option 1, the balance of your class time will be spent in your home or office. You will be part of a virtual boardroom team that draws its members from across Canada and other countries. You will experience the same level of real-time connectivity as the participants attending class in their Boardroom Learning Centres. Queen’s provides all the software, tools and Team Coaching you will need to create a high-performance virtual team.
International Students
In some cases, the program may be taken from certain international locations. Often there are technology or time zone considerations that make this impossible. If you are located outside of Canada and are interested in taking this program, please email us at execmba@business.queensu.ca to discuss the possibility.
Electronic Community
ExecMBA Online is a customized portal and electronic network used to communicate with professors and your classmates outside of class. The network allows you to use your time more effectively. You will be able to download course notes, e-mail, chat or upload assignments from anywhere at any time.
