Financial Times ranks Queen's #22 in open executive programs, up from #29 last year
2000-05-23 - KINGSTON, ON, May 23rd, 2000 - Queen's School of Business ranks as one of the world's top 30 providers of open executive education programs, according to the second annual survey by The Financial Times. The ranking appeared today in the UK-based publication, which is widely read by businesspeople around the world. Queen's is the only Canadian school to make the list in both years in which the ranking has been conducted.
"Queen's is very pleased to be considered among the world's best in business education, and to be the only Canadian school to make the list in both 1999 and 2000," said Dr. Margot Northey, Dean of Queen's School of Business. "Queen's has been a trailblazer in executive education by offering a variety of top calibre programs in all functional areas of management. Our new e-business program is just the latest in our steady stream of popular, innovative courses for executives."
The Financial Times ranked Queen's #22 in the world for open executive programs - i.e., programs that are open to all executives, rather than custom-designed for one organization - up from #29 in 1999. Within the list of top business schools offering open executive programs, Queen's ranked among the top 10 in the world in three critical areas: "How modern were the teaching materials" (#4); "Fulfilment of [participants'] personal objectives" (#6); and "Relevance of teaching in the workplace" (#10).
Queen's is widely known for its expertise in executive education. More senior executives in Canada choose Queen's than all other Canadian universities combined. Queen's executive education programs enable managers to review and examine current thinking and best practices in a wide portfolio of programs - from traditional disciplines such as finance, human resources and marketing to new fields such as strategic leadership and e-business.
Building on its expertise in executive education, Queen's developed the world's first Executive MBA program delivered through state-of-the-art multi-point videoconferencing technology. Senior managers can study at Queen's Ottawa classroom or via videoconference, now offered at boardroom learning centres in cities from coast to coast.
Queen's School of Business (www.business.queensu.ca) is Canada's leading business school and one of the best in North America. The school's programs include: an undergraduate Bachelor of Commerce, with the highest entry standards in Canada and a 100% success rate in placing students in the job market; Queen's MBA for Science & Technology, ranked #1 by Canadian Business magazine for three years in a row; the market-leading Queen's Executive MBA, Canada's first MBA program delivered by videoconference to sites from coast to coast; the Queen's Executive Development Centre, Canada's most popular university-level executive training facility; and the new MSc in Management and unique double-major PhD programs.
