Queen's School of Business trains an army of Canada's top private sector advisors
2000-09-24 - Fast-growing, technology-intensive companies are attracting a lot of attention these days - from media and investors alike.
Promising dotcoms, for example, can grow very fast, but their founders often find that the road to riches is a bumpy one. Whether it's building a business plan, dealing with venture capitalists, recruiting and managing talent or watching their cash flow, the challenges can be huge. While management consultants can help, they usually lack real-life experience in running these new and emerging types of businesses - and their services can be very costly.
The good news: help is on the way! From September 24 - 26, Queen's School of Business is - quite literally - training an army of "knowledge angels" who will soon be available to give small, innovative, technology-oriented enterprises the business and management skills they need.
After an extensive cross-country search, the new Queen's Centre for Enterprise Development has recruited 60 high-calibre business advisors who offer an unparalleled depth of knowledge and hands-on expertise - people who have built and managed hundreds of successful companies from coast to coast and beyond.
On September 24, this high-powered group will gather in Kingston for three days of intensive training. They'll hear the latest in business thinking from Queen's world-class faculty and numerous top-flite private sector experts, and talk about their future roles as advisors to some of Canada's fastest growing companies.
