Distinguished Fellows announced

2002-02-22 - Dr. Tina Dacin and Dr. Daniel B. Thornton have been named the inaugural recipients of Queen’s School of Business Distinguished Fellowship Awards. Dr. Thornton, a Professor of Accounting, and Dr. Tina Dacin, a Professor of Strategy and Organization, have been recognized for their significant contributions to management education and to the academic community.
Over the 3-year term of the fellowship, Dr. Dacin and Dr. Thornton will receive financial support for their respective research activities and are able to use the title “Queen's School of Business, Distinguished Faculty Fellow”.
Dr. Dacin joined the School in the summer of 2001 from Texas A & M University. Her current research relates to the management of strategic alliances and networks with a specific focus on partner selection and the social side of collaboration. A frequent contributor to research journals, Dr. Dacin currently serves on the editorial review boards of the Academy of Management Review, Journal of International Business Studies, Organization Science, and Strategic Management Journal and has also served on the board of the Academy of Management Journal.
A prolific author and researcher, Dr. Thornton was the first recipient of the Canadian Academic Accounting Association’s Award for Distinguished Contribution to Accounting Thought. He is an associate editor of The Accounting Review (the journal of the American Accounting Association). Last year, he became the first Canadian to receive an academic fellowship at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. He was elected a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario in 1994 and a Fellow of the Chartered Accountants of Alberta in 1995, one of a handful of accountants holding fellowships in more than one provincial institute.
