2002-11-01 - The Royal Society of Canada’s Canadian Academy of the Sciences and Humanities, and Queen’s University have recently recognized the achievements and academic excellence demonstrated by Associate Dean and Professor Julian Barling.
Dr. Barling was elected to the Royal Society and inducted in a ceremony at Rideau Hall in November with Governor General Adrienne Clarkson (see photo). As noted in the Society’s press release: “ Fellowship in the Royal Society of Canada is considered Canada’s most prestigious academic accolade to which scholars and scientists aspire. These distinguished individuals have accomplished work of truly outstanding quality,” said Howard Alper, President of the RSC.
Earlier in 2002, Principal William C. Leggett announced the first Queen’s Research Chairs – a companion program to the Canada Research Chairs - and Julian Barling’s name was among those of the recipients. Dr. Barling joins colleagues in such diverse disciplines as philosophy, physics, medicine and English in assuming the five-year, renewable term that provides additional funding of $20,000 per year for research support.
Queen’s School of Business is proud of Dr. Barling’s accomplishments and of the accolades and distinction he has brought to himself and to the School.
