Queen’s Executive MBA moves to 15-month program

Adds Corporate Social Responsibility focus and more career services

2004-01-19 - KINGSTON, ON, January 19, 2004 - Queen’s School of Business announced today that it is moving to a 15-month curriculum for its market-leading Queen’s Executive MBA program. Starting this August, Queen’s Executive MBA will be the first and only Executive MBA program of less than 22 months that is available right across Canada - either at Queen's classroom in Ottawa, or in cities across the country by interactive, real-time videoconference. Participants who start the program in August 2004 will graduate in October 2005.

“The change to a 15-month program is an example of our commitment to continuous improvement to ensure Queen's remains home to the top Executive MBA program in Canada and one of the best in the world,” Blake said. “Applicants, students, alumni and employers told us they wanted us to maintain the high standards of Queen’s Executive MBA, while delivering the program in a shorter time frame. We listened, and we acted.”

By re-engineering the current 22-month program, Queen’s has reduced its length to 15 months with no impact on the number of total contact hours. A key factor in making the change possible was expanding the residential component of the program. Queen’s move to a shorter program length parallels a trend among other leading global Executive MBA programs such as INSEAD (France), IMD (Switzerland) and IESE (Spain).

Other major changes to Queen's Executive MBA program include:

• Corporate social responsibility has been added to the existing list of integrated content themes, which also include strategic thinking, global business, innovation and change, leadership and management fundamentals.
• Career management services for Executive MBA students have been enhanced.
• A new course, Building High Performance Teams, has been added to the curriculum, reflecting Queen’s School of Business’ growing focus in this area.
• Queen's is introducing a limited number of merit-based scholarships to outstanding incoming participants.
