Post-MBA success for Queen’s alumni pays off in Financial Times ranking

2004-01-26
- KINGSTON, ON, January 26, 2004 – Queen’s MBA for Science & Technology is the best in the world at ensuring that its graduates achieve their goals, according to MBA rankings released today by the UK-based Financial Times newspaper. Out of the top 100 full-time MBA programs in the world, Queen’s ranked #1 in the category of “aims achieved” by its alumni when discussing the extent to which they have fulfilled their goals or reasons for doing an MBA. In 2002, BusinessWeek magazine ranked Queen’s MBA #1 in Canada and second in the world outside the US, also due in large part to graduates’ exceptionally high level of satisfaction with the program.

“At Queen’s School of Business, we focus on delivering an MBA that fast tracks the careers of our students, and this global ranking shows that our grads are enthusiastic supporters of the Queen’s approach,” said Bill Blake, Associate Dean of MBA programs at Queen’s School of Business. “We constantly strive to deliver a program that meets – and exceeds – our students’ expectations. And this ranking indicates we’re on the right track.”

The Financial Times 2004 MBA ranking is based on 8,342 survey responses by alumni of the Class of 2000 from MBA programs around the world. At least 20% of a graduating class must respond to the survey in order for a business school to be included in the ranking. Twenty criteria are used to determine the final MBA rankings, including the career progress of graduates, the diversity of the MBA experience and the extent that schools are generating new ideas through academic and business research.

Of the nearly 30 Canadian business schools that offer a full-time MBA program, seven made the Financial Times ranking. In the overall FT ranking of the top 100 full-time MBA programs in the world, Queen's is #52.
