Enron Whistleblower Lynn Brewer speaks on Corporate Social Responsibility
Presentations to students, faculty and staff fill the Atrium and classrooms
February 15, 2005
Currently the President of the Integrity Institute, Ms. Brewer spoke to several audiences on different topics throughout the day. “The Value of Integrity” was the title of her first address that was open to the School’s faculty, staff and graduate students. In this presentation she spoke on how to measure corporate integrity and on the return shareholders receive on ethical activity.
Her next presentation on leadership was directed to the MBAst class in Kingston and to Executive MBA and Accelerated MBA program participants located in boardrooms across Canada, delivered via videoconference. This presentation sparked a lively discussion on the ethical dilemmas faced by managers in attempting to juggle ethical concerns with immediate market driven demands.
In the afternoon, she then presented to assembled students, faculty and staff in the Atrium. Her topic “What Can We Learn from the Enron disaster” provided participants with a detailed account of the inside culture at Enron that fuelled the now famous scandalous behaviour of bank fraud and false statements.
That evening, Ms. Brewer addressed the Queen’s community at Grant Hall where she provided an intriguing connection between Enron and political leaders in the United States.
