COMMitment and MBAst Student, Prof and Staff Awards

Every year the COMMitment Dinner (held March 31st) and the MBAst Graduation Dinner (held April 21st) bring together the graduating classes for a final celebration. In addition to presenting awards to their classmates, Queen's School of Business professors and staff are singled out for special recognition, as voted by the students. Listed below are this year’s award recipients, congratulations.

Commerce Awards were handed out to Business Law Professor and Director of the Commerce Program Peter Kissick was awarded the Commerce Society Teaching Award for excellence in the classroom and for dedication to students.

Professor David McConomy received the Commerce’89 Award, which is given to the faculty member who contributed most to the student life of the graduating class over their four years in the program.

Professor John Phelan received the ComSoc President Award, for truly reflecting the quality and passion of a ComSoc President and will now hold the honorary title of ComSoc president for the following year.

The NSC (NetImpact Support Centre) Award was presented to QSB Custodians Dean Ryder, Jamie Benn, Fred Morton, and Maria Agoftino.

Undergraduate Awards were received by Maureen Connolly, Derek Ha, Aana Mehta, and Kasra Nejatian.

Intramural Awards were received by Ross Fraser Shield (BEWS) and Michael Pooley and the WIC Award was received by Kathleen Olivotto.

Celine Montcalm received the COMM’96 Award and Jonathan Suter received the COMM’74 Award.

MBA for Science & Technology Awards were handed out to Professors Salman Mufti and Ken Wong shared receipt of the 2005 MBAst Instructor of the Year Award.

Vivek Shah (MBAst’05) won the 2005 New Ventures Competition and accompanying $10,000 prize for his ‘Bollywood Challenge’ board game venture. This annual competition was founded by new venture supporters Greg Cochrane (MBA’74) and Paul Hyde.
