April 28, 2005
2005-04-28 - The 2005 Ray & Berndtson Vision Award was presented to Queen's Industrial Relations Centre (IRC). The Centre is led by Dr. Carol Beatty, who is also a professor of Organizational Behaviour at Queen's School of Business. The award recognizes excellence in providing a human resources product or service. The IRC was lauded for the innovative training methods and high service standards in its popular management education programs.
The Vision Awards were established in 1999 by Ray & Berndtson executive search firm and the Ottawa Human Resources Professionals Association to reward outstanding contributions and accomplishments made by human resources professionals in the National Capital Region, Eastern Ontario, and Western Quebec. It is considered one of the premiere HR events in Canada.
IRC Director Dr. Carol Beatty was on hand in the nation’s capital to receive the award. “This meant so much to all of us here at IRC because it is the fruit of 10 years of brainstorming, researching, planning, and plain hard work,” she says. “A decade ago we made a commitment to help keep our clients on the cutting edge of HR knowledge and skills. This award confirms that our efforts have been on target.”
In bestowing the Vision award, the judges wrote: “Their commitment to excellence and meeting business needs has equipped them to address the ever-changing landscape of human resources by providing state-of-the-art programs and delivery methods. Queen’s IRC . . . continues to be a leader in its field.”
For more than 60 years, Queen’s IRC has analyzed, interpreted, and taught others about the world of people at work. Considered “Canada’s people management finishing school”, the Centre specializes in human resource management, organization development, and industrial relations. It now offers 10 residential training programs that lead to three highly respected certificates, as well as a number of one-day training programs run in partnership with the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario. The IRC also conducts research in dispute resolution, change management, and high performance teams. The Centre is part of the School of Policy Studies.
