Queen’s MBA hockey team takes the Telus Cup
2006-03-19 - With a 3-1 victory, Queen’s MBA hockey team defeated York University’s Schulich team to take the Telus Cup at an MBA hockey event on March 19.

The 1st Annual Telus Cup, hosted by the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, saw MBA teams from Ivey, Rotman, Schulich and Queen’s get out of the classroom and onto the ice for some friendly competition.

The tournament was developed to give MBA students a chance to network and show their school spirit. Team members included current students and alumni from all Queen’s School of Business MBA programs, as well as two honourary members.

Coach Ryan Stoness said the team exceeded his expectations. “We went out there for a bit of fun and came home with the cup — quite an accomplishment!”

Following an undefeated round robin — that saw a 4-0 victory over Ivey, 6-2 win over Rotman and a 2-0 win over Schulich — Queen’s played the final game against Schulich. It was a close first period, but Queen's pulled ahead to a 3-1 victory.

We look forward to seeing this winning team back at the 2nd Annual Telus Cup in 2007 to be hosted by Queen’s at a venue in Toronto. Go team!
