Queen’s School of Business Honours Two Faculty for Outstanding Research
December 22, 2006
Queen’s School of Business recently awarded two faculty top honours for their research in empirical finance and interpersonal relations and group processes at work.
Kee-Hong Bae, Bank of Montreal Professor of Finance, is the recipient of the 2006 Award for Research Excellence. Jana Raver, Assistant Professor and E. Marie Shantz Research Fellow in Organizational Behaviour, received the New Researcher Achievement Award.
“Both faculty members have made significant contributions to research in their discipline and profession,” said Dean David Saunders who presented the awards at a ceremony in November. “The QSB Research Awards are decided by a committee comprised of the winners’ peers — which is why receiving a QSB Research Award is such a tremendous honour.
Kee-Hong is an international leader in empirical finance whose research focuses on emerging financial markets, corporate governance and international finance.
He has an impressive list of research currently underway and — in 2007 — will bring together major researchers in his area for a conference at Queen’s School of Business. He received a SSHRC grant for his research last year, the first year in which he applied.
Kee-Hong has published numerous research articles in top finance journals such as the Journal of Finance and the Journal of Financial Economics.
Jana Raver’s primary area of research focuses on interpersonal relations and group processes at work. She received a SSHRC grant for her research last year; the first year in which she submitted an application.
Jana has already published in several major journals, including the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review and the Journal of Applied Psychology.
This year, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) awarded funding to seven faculty at Queen’s School of Business — setting a record for the most faculty to receive SSHRC grants at the School in a given year.
The School has recently seen a significant increase in faculty publications and manuscripts accepted by top tier international journals.
